And it’s another peek into one of the amazing alcohol history time=D
After the super yummy free flow of Hennessy V.S.O.P at the bottle launch party last 2 weeks,it’s time to have a look into their history and the new bottle design=D
Hennessy V.S.O.P Cognac.
Hennessy V.S.O.P started its legacy in 1817, 7th October when King Goerge IV of England asked for a special cognac.
This cognac has not changed since, being recorded as a “Very superior Old Pale” Cognac.
The design of the bottle is very important as it would have to represent the alcohol itself.
And this, was Chris Bangle task, to bring the design of the bottle forward without losing the original identity of the bottle.
We’ve gone through this, Chris Bangle is the designer for BMW and also the Rolls-Royce motorcars and the minis.
I quote chris
“Designing for Hennessy gave me the same sensations as working on designs for fast BMW or a great Rolls Royce. t is that experience of a unique emotion.”
I’ve mentioned in my previous post
there are a few significant change in the bottle
the sides curves of the bottle are slightly accentuated, reinforcing the dynamics by accentuating the curve by less than 1mm.
They gave the bottle a thicker base(like a pedestal) to stabilise the bottle.
Adding a hollow bottom(win for bottle handling) and lengthening the bottle’s neck and straightening it’s shoulder.
2 lines were added in the glass around the central label. creating the optical effect by structuring the front of the bottle with a pyramid perspective.
The legendary arm and axe of Hennessy is also engraved into the glass itself. The papers and colors for the labels are revised, and also a dark grey with golden embossing around the Hennessy Oval is added. The label is also highligted with a shimmering gloss clustered grapes and vines as a reminder of the origins of the cognac.
of course, such amazing bottle cannot have an amazing box
The box was also given a makeover.
Loved the new photo by Adam Savitch which dramatized the whole look of the box.
The box has this cool S, a splash of the liquid behind the bottle. and also this lovely blacktie side of the box that has a band of golden vine leaves around the bottle label. I love love love this design side of the box! Makes it look so much classier!
They’ve increased the complexity of the hologram and the laser stamp, as well as having this new horizaontal lines forming a grape cluster on the cap seal.
